COLOMBO, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Over 500,000 tourists have visited Sri Lanka in the first two months of this year, a minister said here on Friday.
Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe told the media that Sri Lanka plans to attract 3 million tourists this year, adding that the government has identified 100 new locations as tourist attractions and plans to invest 1 billion rupees (3.4 million U.S. dollars) in developing basic infrastructure in these areas.
He said the target could be met since half a million tourist arrivals were recorded in the first two months of the year. ■
