CAIRO, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff discussed on Friday a Cairo-proposed plan for Gaza's early recovery and reconstruction, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

In a phone call with Witkoff, Abdelatty stressed the plan was adopted at the recent emergency Arab summit with full support from participating Arab leaders.

The minister expressed Egypt's aspiration to continue positive and constructive interaction with the U.S. side to review the plan and its advantages in an integrated manner, according to the statement.

He also stressed the necessity to continue joint efforts to implement all phases of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, demanding that Israel should allow the entry of humanitarian relief into the enclave to pave the road for its early recovery and reconstruction.

Witkoff, for his part, said Cairo's plan includes attractive elements and reflects good intentions, adding he expects to learn more details about the plan in the coming period.

The Egypt-drafted reconstruction plan for Gaza includes an early recovery phase to address urgent humanitarian needs and a comprehensive reconstruction phase. The plan is estimated to cost 53 billion U.S. dollars and aims to rebuild Gaza without displacing its residents.
