BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese basketball star Guo Ailun, guard for the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), remains optimistic about his return to the court following a serious eye injury sustained during team practice.

The 31-year-old shared an update on social media Wednesday, announcing the successful removal of surgical sutures and expressing gratitude for the support he received during his recovery.

"Thank you all for your concern over this period. The sutures were removed smoothly yesterday," Guo wrote. He specifically thanked the Guangzhou Loong Lions Basketball Club for "immediately arranging top-tier medical experts and rehabilitation resources" after his injury, as well as the hospital staff for their care. "With your help and encouragement, I believe I will fully recover and return to the court," he added.

Guo suffered a severe right eye injury during an intra-squad scrimmage on Feb. 17. The club quickly arranged emergency surgery following the incident. Guo is currently undergoing rehabilitation, with no clear timeline for his return.
