PHNOM PENH, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's foreign trade volume reached 5.05 billion U.S. dollars in January 2025, up 24.6 percent from 4.05 billion dollars in the same month last year, an official report showed on Monday.
The kingdom's total export amounted to 2.3 billion dollars in January this year, up 17 percent from 1.96 billion dollars in January 2024, while total import rose to 2.75 billion dollars, up 31.5 percent from 2.09 billion dollars, according to the General Department of Customs and Excise's report.
China is the biggest trading partner of Cambodia, followed by the United States, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan, the report said.
Cambodia exported mostly garment, footwear and travel goods products, bicycles, car tires, solar panels, dry rubber, milled rice, bananas, cashew nuts, mangos, and longans, as it imported raw materials for garment, footwear and travel goods, petroleum, construction materials, automobiles and motorcycles, consuming products, pharmaceutical products and cosmetics.
Ministry of Commerce's Secretary of State and Spokesperson Penn Sovicheat said the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and Cambodia's bilateral free trade agreements (FTAs) with China, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates had injected vigorous impetus into Cambodia's trade growth.
"With preferential tariffs provided by RCEP and other bilateral FTAs, we're confident that our exports to international markets, particularly to China and other RCEP member countries, will continue to rise," he told Xinhua. ■
