DODOMA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Tanzania's ruling party, on Wednesday marked its 48th anniversary in the national capital of Dodoma, releasing 500 doves to symbolize its commitment to peace and stability the country has enjoyed over the years.

"On behalf of all CCM regional chairpersons, we release these doves as a symbol of peace and unity that define our nation," said Adam Kimbisa, CCM's Dodoma regional chairperson.

Addressing CCM members and supporters gathered at the Jamhuri Stadium, Kimbisa showered praise on CCM National Chairperson and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan for playing a key role in fostering harmony and ensuring stability across the country.

CCM Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training Amos Makalla said the ruling party has laid a strong foundation for national unity and will continue to uphold its legacy.

Speaking at the celebration, CCM Secretary General Emmanuel Nchimbi reaffirmed the party's commitment to conducting a fair and free general election in October this year.

The event was also attended by Tanzanian Vice President Philip Mpango, former President Jakaya Kikwete, and CCM Vice Chairperson Stephen Wasira, among other dignitaries.
