DAMASCUS, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Syria's de facto leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, on Wednesday was appointed as the country's president during the transitional phase, and all military factions would be dissolved, according to the spokesperson of the Syrian Military Operations Administration.
Hassan Abdel Ghani, the spokesperson, said al-Sharaa would serve as the country's interim president and represent Syria in international forums.
He also announced the immediate dissolution of all military factions and revolutionary political bodies, along with their integration into state institutions. ■
