SINGAPORE, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Situated in the northwest of Singapore, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a nature reserve rich in biodiversity and serves as an important site for migratory birds.

The reserve, opened in 1993, covers an area of more than 200 hectares of mangroves, mudflats, ponds and forests.

In 2003, the reserve was recognized as Singapore's first ASEAN Heritage Park.
