SEOUL, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- South Korea will launch a state affairs consultative council, composed of the acting president, parliamentary speaker and chiefs of rival political parties, Yonhap news agency said Thursday.
A working-level meeting was held among those from the ruling People Power Party, the main opposition Democratic Party and the government to launch the four-member state affairs council.
During the meeting, the rival parties and the government brought up respective agenda of their interests, agreeing to hold another working-level meeting after internal discussions.
The ruling party proposed discussions to pass bills on people's livelihoods, while the opposition party suggested a supplementary budget bill as its main agenda.
Economy and Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok, who doubles as deputy prime minister of economic affairs, became acting president in late December after the impeachment of both President Yoon Suk-yeol and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo. ■
