BOLE, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Located in Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Sayram Lake is the highest and largest alpine lake in Xinjiang. After the winter solstice, temperatures around the lake can drop to approximately -20 degrees Celsius, causing the lake to freeze.
