GALLE, Sri Lanka, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- People in Galle, Sri Lanka on Thursday attended a commemoration event for the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, offering flowers and prayers at a memorial monument.
Thursday marked the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, one of the deadliest natural disasters in modern history. Sri Lanka was one of the countries most severely affected by the tsunami.
