ASUNCION, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- Paraguay international goalkeeper Gatito Fernandez has returned to Cerro Porteno on a free transfer, the Asuncion-based club said on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old, who began his professional career at Cerro Porteno in 2007, agreed to a one-year deal after parting ways with Brazil's Botafogo earlier this month.
"Welcome home, Gatito," the Paraguayan top-flight side said in a brief statement on social media.
Fernandez made 218 appearances for Botafogo following his 2017 move from its Brazilian Serie A rival Figueirense.
He has been capped 24 times for Paraguay's national team and was an overage player for his country at this year's Olympic Games in Paris. ■
