Decades ago, Chinese engineers designed the Danjiangkou Reservoir with infrastructure built to accommodate future dam upgrades. Today, its water level has reached 170 meters, creating a 100-meter height difference with the North China Plain, enabling the South-to-North Water Diversion Project to operate through gravity flow along its entire length. The project's success is due to the efforts of many, including Wen Fubo and his daughter, Wen Dan.
