A staff member adjusts costumes for Hyper Lo (L) in Macao, south China, Dec. 9, 2024. MFM, a music group formed in 2012 by Hyper Lo, Josie Ho, and AJ, adopted its current name in 2017. The name draws inspiration from the code for Macao International Airport "MFM," and also stands for "Music from Macao." According to Hyper Lo, the group aims to bring Macao's music to more places, much like a plane departing from an airport.
In 2014, MFM released their first original song. Over the past decade, the group has performed in the mainland and Hong Kong, and brought Macao's culture to wider audiences through their music.
Hyper Lo believes that Macao's development since its return to the motherland has created more opportunities for musicians. "The support from both the central government and the SAR's government has allowed us to step onto bigger stages." (Xinhua/Cheong Kam Ka)
