GAZA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- At least 38 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on different areas of the Gaza Strip, Palestinian medical and security sources said Thursday.
At least 10 people, including children and women, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building on al-Jalaa street in Gaza City, Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Civil Defense in Gaza, told Xinhua.
In the al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, 15 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house for displaced people, according to a brief statement issued by the Al-Awda Hospital.
Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that Israeli warplanes targeted a house with at least one missile west of al-Nuseirat, resulting in casualties. According to the sources, the house was completely destroyed and leveled to the ground.
The Israeli army has not commented on these raids yet.
In addition, an Israeli airstrike killed 13 people while they were guarding some aid trucks west of Rafah city in southern Gaza, according to a statement issued by the European Hospital.
Local eyewitnesses told Xinhua that warplanes targeted a convoy transporting aid to Gaza, killing at least 13 people and wounding dozens of others, who were later taken to hospital.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Thursday that it conducted overnight "precise strikes" on armed Hamas militants gathering at two different meeting points in southern Gaza, who "operated on the humanitarian corridor" there.
"The strike was intended to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip," it claimed.
Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage.
