ISLAMABAD, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Remittances sent by overseas Pakistani workers in the first five months of the 2024-25 fiscal year witnessed an increase of 33.33 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Monday.
The remittances reached 14.8 billion U.S. dollars during July-November 2024-25 as against the remittances of 11.1 billion U.S. dollars received during July-November 2023-24, the central bank said.
On a year-on-year basis, workers' remittances during November 2024 recorded an inflow of 2.9 billion U.S. dollars, posting an increase of 29.10 percent as compared to the same month of last year, the SBP said.
Last month, the remittances were mainly sourced from Saudi Arabia with 729.2 million dollars, the United Arab Emirates with 619.4 million dollars, Britain with 409.9 million dollars, and the United States with 288.2 million dollars, according to the bank. ■
