MEXICO CITY, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Spanish manager Oscar Garcia has vowed to instill a "fearless mindset" as he prepares to take charge of Mexican top-flight side Guadalajara.
The 51-year-old was presented to the media for the first time on Friday since it was announced that he would replace Argentine Fernando Gago, who left the club in October. Arturo Ortega filled the role for the team's last five games of the season.
"It's a responsibility, but if there wasn't responsibility, if there wasn't demand, if there wasn't ambition, I wouldn't be here, no matter how big the club is," Garcia told a news conference.
"The club convinced me very quickly. The truth is that from the first day, I was clear that I wanted to come."
Chivas, as the club is known, was eliminated from the Liga MX Apertura title race via a 2-1 loss to Atlas in the first week of the post-season in November.
Garcia said he was determined to bring success to the club after a seven-year title drought.
"From day one I feel indebted to the club and to the 40 million fans," he said. "I want to start working and to bring the team up to the level that this club demands.
"I am coming to a great team, I imagine a brave, intense, demanding and passionate team, I want a team that is a reflection of what its people are."
Garcia will be Guadalajara's 10th head coach - not including interim appointments - since 2017. ■
