BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Immigration and National Registration Department recently conducted two law enforcement operations, local media reported on Friday.
According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin, two foreign nationals were detained and brought to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation. One was suspected of employing an immigration offender, while the other was suspected of not working under authorized employer.
In a separate inspection, four foreign nationals failed to produce any valid documents, while another four were suspected of overstaying in the country after their immigration passes had expired. The remaining four were suspected of working while on a visitor's pass, said the report.
Brunei is a Southeast Asian country with a significant number of foreign workers. The Brunei government has consistently implemented strict legal measures to protect the labor market order. ■
