RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A second-half strike from Colombian forward Kevin Serna gave relegation-threatened Fluminense a 1-0 home victory over Cuiaba in Brazil's Serie A on Thursday.
Serna struck from close range after Vinicius Lima's powerful long-range effort was parried away by goalkeeper Walter Artune.
The result leaves four-time champions Fluminense 15th in the 20-team standings, two points clear of the relegation zone with one match remaining in the season. Cuiaba are last, with their place in the Serie B next year already confirmed.
In Thursday's only other Brazilian top-flight fixture, Eduardo Sasha scored twice as Bragantino kept alive their hopes of avoiding relegation with a 2-1 victory at Athletico Paranaense.
Bragantino now has 41 points, one point behind 16th-placed Paranaense. The last four teams will be demoted to Brazilian football's second tier in 2025. ■
