LONDON, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Ruud Van Nistelrooy had a triumphant debut as Leicester City coach as his side claimed a convincing 3-1 win at home to West Ham United on Tuesday night.

The result gives Leicester some breathing space above the relegation zone but piles the pressure on West Ham coach Julen Lopetegui as his side continues to struggle to find an identity.

Jamie Vardy needed just two minutes before opening the scoring as he ran in behind the West Ham defense for a simple finish, with the goal awarded after a VAR check.

West Ham struggled with their finishing and looked vulnerable on the break against Leicester, who doubled their lead in the 64th minute after Bilal El Khannouss sidefooted home a McAteer pass.

Patson Daka drove home Leicester's third of the night in the 90th minute, and the only consolation for West Ham was to see Niclas Fullkrug score his first goal after injury following his summer signing from Borussia Dortmund.

Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the only goal of the game as Crystal Palace won 1-0 against Ipswich to claim just their second win of the campaign and leave their rivals second from bottom.

Ipswich didn't offer enough in the final third of the pitch, with Mark Greaves' effort against the woodwork following a free kick the closest they came to scoring, but otherwise, they failed to test Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The remaining matches are played on Wednesday, with Liverpool visiting Newcastle United, Arsenal hosts Manchester United, and Manchester City looking to end their losing streak at home to Nottingham Forest.
