TOKYO, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Japan's core consumer price rose 2.3 percent from a year earlier in October, a slower pace for the second straight month due to lower electricity costs, according to government data on Friday.
The rise in the nationwide core consumer price index, which excludes fresh food, slowed down from an increase of 2.4 percent in September and 2.8 percent in August, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said.
The inflation rate has remained at or above the Bank of Japan's 2 percent target since April 2022.
The core-core index without energy and fresh food, closely monitored by the central bank for broader inflation trends, was up 2.3 percent after climbing 2.1 percent in September, the data showed. ■
