DAR ES SALAAM, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- Former Tanzanian Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda on Thursday night praised construction projects undertaken by Beijing Construction Engineering Group (BCEG) over the past 20 years, highlighting their role in improving the lives and services of thousands of Tanzanians.
Speaking at celebrations marking BCEG's 20th anniversary in Tanzania, held in the port city of Dar es Salaam, Pinda said BCEG's construction projects have gained national recognition, including landmarks like the national stadium in Dar es Salaam and Terminal Three of the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar.
BCEG's projects over the past 20 years have directly impacted education, healthcare, housing and banking sectors, particularly through municipal water and sanitation initiatives, said Pinda, who also serves as the chairperson of the Tanzania-China Friendship Promotion Association and co-chair and senior advisory member of the China Institute for South-South Cooperation.
BCEG Chairman Fan Jun said the company has undertaken nearly 50 construction projects in Tanzania during its two decades of operation, including 10 airport construction projects that have contributed to building an East African air corridor, strengthening Tanzania's connections with the world and China.
"Over the past 20 years, we have always adhered to the concept of 'mutual benefit, win-win, and common development,'" said Fan, noting that BCEG has trained tens of thousands of Tanzanian construction technicians to work alongside the Chinese company. ■
