SKOPJE, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- North Macedonia's trade deficit during the period of January-September amounted to 144.3 billion denars (2.56 billion U.S. dollars), up 16.7 percent from the same period one year ago, the State Statistics Office (SSO) reported on Monday.
Trade deficit in September amounted to 11.8 billion denars, down 16.0 percent from one month ago but still at a high level.
Exports during the first nine months of this year amounted to 360.7 billion denars, down 6.1 percent compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, imports amounted to 505.0 billion denars, down 0.6 percent.
Machinery and transport equipment, chemical and related products, as well as manufactured goods, were the top three items in terms of export value.
In terms of import value, manufactured goods, machinery and transport equipment, as well as chemicals and related products, ranked the top three items.
China ranked the fourth-biggest trading partner of North Macedonia, after Germany, the United Kingdom and Greece. (1 denar = 0.018 U.S. dollar) ■
