BERLIN, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Culture Center in Berlin launched an exhibition on Chinese sustainable design Friday night, featuring 81 innovative exhibits and 26 programs.

The month-long event, co-hosted by the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation, demonstrates China's innovative approaches to sustainable development in daily life, covering themes aligned with the United Nation's sustainable development goals, including rural revitalization, recycled materials, and women's empowerment.

During the opening ceremony, Sun Qinghang, director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin, noted that this exhibition not only showcases China's strengths in sustainable design but also highlights the country's active engagement with global sustainability issues.

Cui Qiao, chairman of the Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation, voiced her hope that the innovative exhibits would inspire audiences, shaping their lifestyle and building global consensus.

Following the opening, Ansgar Eidens, a professor from Brand University of Applied Sciences, Zhang Hanmin, an inheritor of batik craftsmanship from China's Bai ethnic minority, and fashion designer Louis Shengtao Chen shared their insights with the audience. Topics included sustainable design, the preservation and innovation of traditional batik techniques, and the fusion of fashion design with traditional Chinese craftsmanship.

"Their discussion reflects the intersection of industrial and artistic thinking, presenting a fascinating and productive dialogue between China and Germany," Cui said.
