ROME, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Veteran striker Mario Balotelli has returned to Italy, joining Genoa on a short-term deal, the Serie A side confirmed on Monday.
Balotelli, who came through Inter Milan's youth academy, has played for numerous clubs, including Manchester City, AC Milan, and Liverpool, with his last Serie A experience in the 2019-2020 season with Brescia.
Dubbed "Super Mario," Balotelli has been without a club since his contract with Turkish Super Lig side Adana Demirspor expired this summer, allowing the 34-year-old free agent to sign with Genoa at any point during the season.
Balotelli has signed a deal that runs until the end of the season and will wear his beloved No. 45 jersey.
Genoa has struggled with injuries this season and currently sits 18th after nine rounds. ■
