BEIRUT/JERUSALEM, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Fifteen people were killed, and five others injured early Sunday morning in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military and civil defense sources.
The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Xinhua that Israeli drones and warplanes carried out 13 airstrikes on 10 towns and villages in southern Lebanon, leading to casualties in the towns of Marjeyoun and Shuhur, the villages of Chehabiyeh and Qaaqaaiyet El Jisr, and the city of Nabatieh.
The Israeli army continued to blow up houses in the border villages in southern Lebanon, the sources added.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah said in a statement that it launched an air attack with suicide drones on the Yodifat military industries company, southeast of the Israeli city of Acre.
Israel's state-owned Kan TV News reported that a drone launched from Lebanon on Sunday struck an Israeli defense factory in northern Israel, injuring two.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the drone fell in the Bar Lev industrial area, located between the cities of Karmiel and Acre in the Western Galilee region.
According to Israel's MDA rescue service, the two injured men, aged 61 and 31, were in moderate and light condition, respectively.
Earlier in the day, the Israeli Air Force intercepted three other drones, two of which were launched from Lebanon and one from the east, without casualties, the IDF said.
In a separate statement on Sunday, the IDF said four Israeli soldiers were killed on Saturday in a fire exchange with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
The four, including three officers, served in the IDF's Alon reserve infantry brigade.
The IDF added that it on Saturday killed about 70 Hezbollah militants, attacked more than 120 Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, and carried out overnight precise intelligence-based strikes on Hezbollah weapons manufacturing and maintenance facilities and a weapons storage facility in Beirut's Dahieh suburb.
Since Sept. 23, the Israeli army has conducted an intensive air attack on Lebanon, marking a dangerous escalation with Hezbollah. In addition, Israel initiated a ground operation across its northern border into Lebanon earlier this month. ■
