CAIRO, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tanis, located in the northeastern Nile Delta of Egypt, boasts many monumental relics and is one of the country's most important archaeological sites.
Tanis rose to prominence during the Third Intermediate Period, particularly in the 21st and 22nd Dynasties (circa 1075-712 BCE), when it served as the capital of Egypt.
