COLOMBO, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rain has recently caused floods inundating streets in a suburb of the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology on Friday forecast the prevailing showery condition to continue further in the southwestern area of Sri Lanka due to atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of the South Asian country.
Official data on Saturday showed 24,492 people from 6,018 families have been affected by floods and landslides in 11 districts across the country due to adverse weather conditions in recent days.
