RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Uncapped Cruzeiro midfielder Matheus Pereira has been added to Brazil's squad for their World Cup qualifier against Peru, the Brazilian Football Confederation said on Friday.
The 28-year-old replaces West Ham's Lucas Paqueta, who is suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
Pereira has scored nine goals and provided 13 assists in 48 games across all competitions for Cruzeiro this year.
Brazil and Peru will meet at the Mane Garrincha stadium in Brasilia on Tuesday.
Five-time world champions Brazil are currently fourth in the 10-team South American zone standings with 13 points from nine qualifiers, seven points ahead of ninth-placed Peru. ■
