ALGIERS, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Algerian national football team stunned Togo 5-1 on Thursday in Annaba, securing their third consecutive victory in the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Group E qualifiers.
Togo took an early lead with a goal by striker Thibault Klidje in the 11th minute, but Algeria quickly responded. Said Benrahma scored the equalizer in the 29th minute and put his team ahead with a second goal in the 50th minute. Houssem Aouar added a third goal in the 68th minute, while substitutes Amine Gouiri and Mohamed Amoura sealed the victory with goals in the 86th minute and stoppage time.
With this dominant win, Algeria remains at the top of Group E with nine points after three rounds, followed by Togo with two points, while awaiting Friday's fixture between Equatorial Guinea and Liberia, who each have one point.
The Desert Foxes will travel to face Togo next Monday for their fourth-round match. A victory in that game would secure their early qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. ■
