BUENOS AIRES, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Uruguayan forward Miguel Merentiel continued his impressive form as Boca Juniors snapped a three-game losing streak with a 1-0 home win over Argentinos Juniors on Sunday.
Merentiel gave his side the lead just after the half hour by firing home from close range after Edinson Cavani's shot was saved by Diego Rodriguez.
The goal was Merentiel's 16th across all competitions for Boca Juniors this year to go with his six assists.
The result at La Bombonera lifts the Buenos Aires giants to 10th in the Primera Division standings with 24 points from 17 games, 12 points behind leaders Velez Sarsfield. Argentinos Junios are 21st in the 28-team standings, five points further back.
