YANGON, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar held World Teachers' Day 2024 at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday, the state-run daily Myanma Alinn reported on Sunday.
The event was attended by the State Administration Council members, teachers and students, the report said.
During the event, honorary certificates and cash awards were presented to distinguished individuals, outstanding teachers and prize-winning teachers and students who excelled in the article and poetry competitions held in honor of the occasion, it added.
In addition to the main event, ceremonies were held in schools across various regions and states, the report said.
This year's World Teachers' Day theme is "Valuing teacher voices: towards a new social contract for education." ■
