KATHMANDU, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Nepal inked an agreement on Thursday for the export of electricity to Bangladesh via India.

A tripartite deal was signed in Kathmandu among the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd of India and the Bangladesh Power Development Board for Nepal to export 40MW of power per day.

Under the deal, Nepal will sell electricity to Bangladesh through the Indian company's transmission lines.

"This is a historic agreement. Nepal will make 9.2 million U.S. dollars annually by selling electricity to Bangladesh," said Kul Man Ghising, the NEA's managing director.
