Pakistan's foreign exchange reserves increase 1.17 bln USD

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said Thursday that its foreign exchange reserves had increased 1.17 billion U.S. dollars.

During the week ending on Sept. 27, total foreign exchange reserves of the bank reached around 10.7 billion dollars, the central bank said in a statement.

Net foreign reserves held by commercial banks came in at around 5.28 billion dollars.

Total liquid foreign reserves held by the South Asian country stood at about 15.98 billion dollars.

The central bank's reserves were on the rise after receiving 1.02 billion dollars from the International Monetary Fund under the Extended Fund Facility program for Pakistan.
