CAIRO, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) will send a 15-member delegation to oversee the Tunisian presidential election scheduled to be held on Sunday, the Cairo-based organization said in a statement on Tuesday.
AL Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit instructed the formation of a mission headed by Assistant Secretary-General Hussain Hindawi and consisting of 14 diplomats from different AL member states to oversee the presidential poll in Tunisia, according to the statement.
The AL decision came in response to an invitation from Farouk Bouasker, head of Tunisia's Election Commission.
The pan-Arab body expressed its keenness "to support the democratic process in Tunisia and the right of the Tunisian people to exercise their democratic rights."
