SINGAPORE, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's manufacturing production increased 21 percent year-on-year in August, expanding the 2 percent expansion in July, the Economic Development Board said Thursday.
Supported by robust demand and a low semiconductor production base, the electronics cluster led the increase with a 49.1 percent year-on-year growth last month.
The production of chemicals, precision engineering, transport engineering, and general manufacturing also recorded growth in August.
However, biomedical manufacturing output decreased 16.1 percent year-on-year. Production for the biomedical manufacturing cluster contracted 22.4 percent from January to August compared to a year ago. ■
