BERLIN, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Harry Kane's hat-trick gave Bayern Munich their third win in as many games after crushing Holstein Kiel 6-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
The Bavarians showed no mercy, breaking the deadlock 13 seconds into the game when Kane flicked on goalkeeper Manuel Neuer's long ball before Jamal Musiala slotted home from close range.
Six minutes later, Serge Gnabry dispossessed Lewis Holtby and played in Kane, who slotted the ball past Kiel goalkeeper Timon Weiner to make it 2-0.
Bayern continued to press and made it three when Musiala beat two opponents and crossed into the box for Nicola Remberg, who scored into the wrong goal in the 13th minute.
With a three-goal lead, Bayern took it easy, but Gnabry still hit the post, Kane shot wide from a promising position and Kingsley Coman couldn't beat Weiner just before the break.
Bayern were rewarded for their efforts in the dying seconds of the first half when Kane converted Gnabry's through ball with a well-placed shot inside the near post.
Holstein made a better start to the second half and came close to reducing the deficit. However, Benedikt Pichler's header hit the right corner of the crossbar.
After several half-chances, the fifth goal came on the hour mark when new signing Michael Olise scored his first Bundesliga goal.
As the match wore on, Bayern's attacking threat waned, allowing Holstein Kiel a consolation goal in the 82nd minute when Armin Gigovic converted a pinpoint cross from Tymoteusz Puchacz.
Bayern were not done scoring as Kane was brought down just before the final whistle. The Englishman stepped up to convert the penalty and complete the 6-1 away win.
With the win, Bayern jumped atop the standings while winless Holstein slipped to the last spot.
"We're not looking at the table yet. We must win more. We got a good result today and put in a good performance," said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany.
In Saturday's other matches, defending champions Bayer Leverkusen returned to winning ways with a commanding 4-1 win at Hoffenheim. Stuttgart got the better of Borussia Monchengladbach as Ermedin Demirovic's double paved the way for a 3-1 win. Wolfsburg won 2-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt. Freiburg came from behind to beat Bochum 2-1 and Leipzig shared the spoils with Union Berlin after a goalless draw. ■
