AWARD CEREMONY
An award ceremony for the astronauts of China's Shenzhou-16 and Shenzhou-17 spaceflight missions was held in Beijing on Tuesday.
Zhang Youxia, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, presented medals and certificates to Shenzhou-16 astronauts Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao, and to Shenzhou-17 astronauts Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin.
GREEN PESTICIDES
Chinese scientists have developed the world's first original biopesticide molecule targeting chitin biological processes, making a significant advancement in the green development of the pesticide industry.
The newly developed fungal chitin deacetylase inhibitors exhibit high efficiency, excellent biosafety and environmental friendliness. These inhibitors are highly effective in preventing and controlling various major crop fungal diseases, said Yang Qing, a professor with the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS).
TRI-FOLD SMARTPHONE
Chinese technology giant Huawei on Tuesday launched an industry-first tri-fold smartphone in south China's Shenzhen, with a number of technological breakthroughs such as a dual-hinge system and screen-bending features.
Yu Chengdong, Huawei's executive director, said that constant technological innovation is the primary driving force in the development of folding-screen smartphones, an industry segment with high technology density. ■
