COLOMBO, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan workers' remittances were recorded at 577.5 million U.S. dollars in August, up 15 percent from the same period last year, according to the latest central bank data.
The South Asian country received 4.28 billion dollars in remittances from workers abroad in the first eight months of 2024.
In 2023, Sri Lankan workers' remittances were 5.96 billion dollars.
Tourism and workers' remittances are among Sri Lanka's top foreign revenue earners. ■
