ISTANBUL, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Global e-commerce leaders gathered in Istanbul, Türkiye, on Wednesday for the Global e-Export Summit, discussing the latest trends and strategies in digital trade.

The two-day event held at the Halic Congress Center featured over two dozen major marketplaces and topics such as AI-powered e-commerce, green transformation, and sustainability.

Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat emphasized the rapid growth of global e-commerce, noting it reached 5.8 trillion U.S. dollars in 2023 and is expected to grow to 6.3 trillion dollars by the end of this year.

Türkiye, he said, has seen significant growth in its e-exports, with a 131 percent increase last year and a 94 percent increase in the first eight months of 2024.

The summit aims to connect exporters with international marketplaces, fostering new partnerships and exploring emerging opportunities. A delegation of 100 buyers from global platforms, including Amazon, Tmall, JD CENTRAL, and SHEIN, is expected to participate in a series of bilateral business meetings.
