TASHKENT, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- The annual inflation in Uzbekistan in August reached 10.5 percent, Uzbek media reported on Tuesday, citing data from the state statistics agency.
In August this year, food prices increased by 2.8 percent year-on-year, while non-food items and services rose by 8.6 percent and 27.6 percent, respectively, said the report.
For comparison, the annual inflation figure was 9 percent in 2023, 12.3 percent in 2022, and 11.1 percent in 2021.
In July this year, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan decided to lower the key interest rate from 14 percent to 13.5 percent. ■
