PARIS, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- China continued its dominance in para table tennis, securing the first two gold medals in the women's doubles events on Friday at the 2024 Paralympic Games at the South Paris Arena.

In Women's Doubles Class 14, Huang Wenjuan and Jin Yucheng overcame the German duo of Stephanie Grebe and Juliane Wolf to claim the gold medal. Meanwhile, in Women's Doubles Class 5, Liu Jing and Xue Juan triumphed over South Korea's Seo Su Yeon and Yoon Jiyu in the final.

"It feels so good. It's hard to believe I've won the gold medal here. It's a great start for the Chinese team," said Huang, who secured her second Paralympic gold. The 19-year-old earned her first gold in Tokyo three years ago.

"We practice a lot. The training sets us apart, and it's the only way to reach a higher level. Jin and I are close friends, and winning this gold together has brought us even closer," Huang added.

Liu Jing's victory with her partner brought her a record-breaking ninth Paralympic gold medal, the most by any Chinese table tennis player.

"People can see the number, but they don't see the hard work behind each medal. It took a lot of effort to achieve this," said Liu. "Hopefully, I can break the record again with another win in the singles event in the coming days."
