TOKYO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Nikkei stock closed lower on Thursday, driven by a sell-off in semiconductor-related shares.
The Nikkei Stock Average ended down 0.02 percent from Wednesday to close the day at 38,362.53. The broader Topix index, meanwhile, closed 0.03 percent higher.
Market watchers here noted that some investors found earnings report of U.S. semiconductor giant Nvidia underwhelming, leading to a decline in the stock market. The sell-off affected semiconductor-related shares, including Tokyo Electron. ■
