VIENTIANE, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The water level of the Mekong River has risen after continuous rainfall during the rainy season in Laos. The weather bureau has warned that heavy rains will continue across the Southeast Asian country, with water levels keeping rising in Mekong and its main tributaries.
The water level of Mekong in the Vientiane section was recorded at 11.55 meters on Wednesday, exceeding the warning level of 11.50 meters, with the danger level at 12.50 meters, according to a report issued by the Lao Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
Mekong's water flow varies significantly between low and flood periods. In Laos, the rainy season runs from May to October.
