NEW DELHI, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Around 130 people, including women and children, were taken ill and subsequently hospitalized for food poisoning after eating fritters made of buckwheat flour, officials said Tuesday.

The people consumed the fritters Monday night during a Hindu religious festival of Janmashtami in Farah town of Mathura district.

Officials said the victims developed symptoms such as vomiting, dizziness and shivering after eating the fritters. "All the patients are stable," said Mathura district magistrate Shailendra Kumar Singh.

A team has been formulated to identify the source, from which the buckwheat flour was purchased. The team has been instructed to conduct raids and seal the suppliers' shops.

"Strict action will be taken against those who are found guilty," Singh said.
