SHANGHAI, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Port paid tribute to Sven-Goran Eriksson who passed away on Monday, saying the Swede instilled courage and strength into the Chinese Super League club.
In a statement posted on their official social media account on Tuesday, the Shanghai club said Eriksson helped them achieve impressive results during the two seasons from November 2014 to November 2016 when he coached there.
"Under his guidance, the players were introduced to modern football theories and a harmonious atmosphere inside the team, forging a formidable competitive edge," the Shanghai club wrote in the statement in Chinese.
"We are grateful to Mr. Eriksson for the courage and strength he brought to the team. We will forever remember the time we spent together with the erstwhile coach," the statement added. ■
