MEXICO CITY, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Carlos Rotondi and Amaury Morales were on target as Cruz Azul showed their title credentials with a 2-0 victory at Queretaro in Mexico's Liga MX on Friday.
Rotondi gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of halftime when he converted a penalty after a Pablo Ortiz hand ball.
Morales put the result beyond doubt by slotting home in the 99th minute after combining with Giorgos Giakoumakis on the counterattack.
The result at Estadio Corregidora leaves Cruz Azul second in the 18-team standings with 13 points from five outings, two points behind leaders Monterrey.
Meanwhile, Mazatlan scored three first-half goals en route to a 3-0 rout of Pachuca. ■
