MOSCOW, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was informed about attempted attacks on the Kursk nuclear power plant.
The organization is expected to send specialists to assess the situation, Putin said at a meeting.
Alexei Smirnov, acting governor of the Kursk region, told Putin that the situation at the Kursk nuclear power station remained stable.
Earlier in the day, Russia's RIA Novosti reported that the IAEA's Director General Rafael Grossi will visit the Kursk plant next week. ■
