KABUL, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Several trucks carrying commercial goods have turned to ash as customs' parking lot caught fire in Herat city, the provincial capital of the western Afghanistan's Herat province, deputy to the Customs' office Mawlawi Esmatullah Yasar said Thursday.

The fire erupted due to technical problem on Wednesday evening and devoured several trucks at the parking lot and depots nearby inflicting huge damages, the official said, adding the fire was extinguished late night.

In the meantime, provincial police spokesman Abdullah Insaf said the fire has caused no loss of life, saying the property damage might be millions of U.S. dollars and the exact figure would be made public after completion of assessment and investigation.
