DAMASCUS, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Successive explosions rocked an area near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Sunday as Israeli forces targeted a Syrian military site with rockets in the Tel Al-Jabiya region of the southern Daraa province, a war monitor reported.
Plumes of smoke rose from the site, and emergency vehicles were dispatched to the scene, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Britain-based watchdog group reported that the site belonged to Syrian government forces without providing further details.
The attack is part of a series of Israeli strikes on Syrian territory.
According to the observatory, Israel has launched 59 attacks on Syrian soil since the beginning of this year, 42 of which were airstrikes and 17 ground assaults. The strikes have targeted and destroyed 122 sites, including weapons depots, military headquarters, and vehicles.
The observatory has documented the death of 178 military personnel and the injury of 103 others as a result of these strikes.
Additionally, 17 civilians have been killed in these attacks, according to the Observatory.
Israel has not commented on its recent attacks in Syria. ■
