GABORONE, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Botswanan President Mokgweetsi Masisi, first lady Neo Masisi, and prominent guests attended a big screen watch event on Saturday to celebrate Team Botswana's men's 4x400m relay earning a silver medal at the Paris Olympics.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture, which gathered Batswana (Botswana people) from every corner of the city to watch the race on a big screen and rally behind the team in capital city Gaborone.
Masisi urged citizens to welcome team Botswana and show their support when they arrive at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at Gaborone next Tuesday by donning Botswana's national colors.
Botswana has won two Olympic medals at Paris 2024, including a historic gold medal by Letsile Tebogo in the men's 200m final on Friday. ■
